How informs CNN channel, former US President Bill Clinton shared with journalists his memories of how Russian leader Boris Yeltsin perceived the possibility of NATO expansion to the east and an attack on the Russian Federation from the eastern flank.
According to the American politician, the Russian colleague did not take this possibility seriously.
“I asked, ‘Do you really think that I would use an airbase in Poland to bomb Russia?'” to which he said, “No, but many old ladies in… the Russian Federation believe this because their historical memory includes memories of Hitler, and their grandparents about Napoleon,” Clinton recalled.
