City Duma of Yaroslavl to choose mayor from seven candidates – Picture of the Day – Kommersant

The competitive commission for the selection of candidates for the post of mayor of Yaroslavl allowed all seven applicants to participate in the elections, which will be held in the municipality (city council) of the regional center on November 7. This was reported to Kommersant by the chairman of the municipality, Sergei Kalinin.
The intention to compete for this position was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Yaroslavl Region Artem Molchanov, deputy of the municipality from the party “Fair Russia – For Truth” Anatoly Kashirin, former head of the Yaroslavl “Yabloko” Alexander Simon, head of the territorial administration of the Kirovsky and Leninsky districts of Yaroslavl Alexander Trudonoshin, engineer mechanic Vladimir Dumkin and two former officials Andrey Golovin and Sergey Pavlovnin.
Artem Molchanov is considered the favorite of the mayoral race: his candidacy was unanimously supported by the presidium of the regional political council of United Russia, which controls 34 out of 38 mandates in the municipality. Mr. Molchanov is also close to the non-partisan governor of the Yaroslavl region, Mikhail Evraev: previously, the deputy chairman of the regional government worked as head of the legal department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, and Mr. Evraev served as deputy head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service during the same period.
Recall that the previous mayor of Yaroslavl, Vladimir Volkov, was a member of the team of the former governor Dmitry Mironov (now an assistant to the president of the Russian Federation) and resigned in May this year.
