City Duma deputy detained in Yekaterinburg for distributing extremist materials

A case was opened against Aleksey Kholodarev, a member of the Yekaterinburg City Duma, in connection with the distribution of extremist materials (part 1, article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). About it informs TASS with reference to his lawyer Alexei Bushmakov. The deputy was detained and taken to the Oktyabrsky district court.
The reason for initiating the case was Kholodarev’s distribution of extremist materials in the social network VKontakte in March 2017. In a conversation with Kommersant, the lawyer clarifiedthat we are talking about a repost of the film “He is not Dimon to you”, which contains the FBK logo (it is included in the register of non-profit organizations-foreign agents and recognized as an extremist organization whose activities are prohibited in Russia).
Bushmakov told Kommersant that the court found the deputy guilty and sentenced him to 14 days of arrest. The maximum punishment under Part 1 of Art. 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses – a fine of up to 2,000 rubles. or administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
Kholodarev was elected to the City Duma of Yekaterinburg in 2018 in a single-mandate constituency. In 2022, the deputy was twice found guilty under another article – on discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) for posts on social networks. After that, he was expelled from the Just Russia faction in the City Duma.
