The Institute for the Development of the Legal Society (IRPO) conducted an online survey on attitudes towards the State Duma and deputies of the lower house of parliament. Respondents, in particular, were asked to evaluate the work of the current convocation of the Duma on a five-point scale. The maximum five points were chosen by 4% of the survey participants, four – by 17%, three – by 37%. 30% of respondents assess the work of the lower chamber negatively, 11% of them gave the Duma a single mark. As the authors of the study note, most often good grades are given by women, pensioners, and residents of the Southern and Ural federal districts. 5% of respondents admitted that they know nothing about the work of parliamentarians, and 7% found it difficult to answer the question of the IRPO.
To the open question “what bills are the main achievement of the State Duma of the last convocation”, most of the respondents named initiatives related to the establishment of liability measures for citizens. For example, 61% recalled tougher penalties for pedophiles, 39% – tougher penalties for identifying the actions of the USSR and Nazi Germany, 37% – tougher penalties for spreading fakes. 35% each spoke about the ratification of friendly treaties with the LNR and the DNR and the expansion of categories of combat veterans.
