Chinese representative begins tour to find solution to crisis in Ukraine

Former Chinese Ambassador to Russia and Chinese Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui begins his European tour on Monday. The purpose of the trip is to find ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. For this purpose, he will visit five countries: Ukraine, Poland, France, Germany and Russia. The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed that this visit is another manifestation of China’s commitment to promoting peace and negotiations.
Zhou Rong, a senior researcher at the Chongyang Institute of Finance of the Renmin University of China, explained to RIA Novosti that this visit would not solve the problem of the crisis instantly, but would allow to clarify the positions of all parties and determine possible ways to resolve the conflict. He stressed that a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine could be reached only after consultations with all interested parties.
Zhou Rong also noted that during the visit, Li Hui will get acquainted with the position of Ukraine regarding the settlement of the crisis. He expressed the opinion that this visit is a positive step that meets the interests of the peoples of Russia, Ukraine and the security of all European countries.
