China is ready, together with Russia, as well as other like-minded countries, to promote the development of a multipolar world, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
“China is ready to work with Russia and (other – TASS note) congenial countries to resolutely promote the development of a multipolar world, firmly support the democratization of international relations, and defend the international system, which is based on the United Nations,” declared Wang Yi (TASS quote)
In the summer, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui announced China’s aspirations to create a multipolar world with the Russian Federation, where both countries will play the role of an important pole. There is a relationship of trust between Beijing and Moscow, Hanhui noted in June. In September, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning also stressed that the Chinese state, together with Russia, will continue to promote multipolarity in the world, as well as work on the democratization of international relations. She stated that China and Russia have always defended the international system, which is the core of the UN, as well as the order, which is based on international law. Countries sought to help restore the global economy amid the pandemic, Mao Ning said.
September 20 Russian President Vladimir Putin declaredthat the world is transforming and moving towards multipolarity. In September, as part of a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Uzbekistan, Putin discussed steps to organize a multipolar world. He noted that “attempts to create a unipolar world have recently acquired an absolutely ugly shape and are absolutely unacceptable for the vast majority of states on the planet.”
