Chinese Defense Minister to visit Russia and Belarus

Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu will visit Russia and Belarus from 14 to 19 August. About it reported in the Chinese military.

The Chinese Defense Minister plans to take part in the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security, where he will make a presentation. In addition, Shangfu will meet with “the leadership of Russia and the defense departments.” In Belarus, he plans to visit military units and hold talks with military leaders.

On July 3, the Chinese Defense Minister met in Beijing with the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Nikolai Evmenov. The Chinese minister expressed his hope that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy and the Russian Navy will conduct frequent joint patrols and exercises, and make a positive contribution to maintaining regional and global stability. Evmenov assured that Moscow is ready to maintain close coordination with Beijing.
