According to the newspaper, Beijing made it clear to the owner of TikTok, ByteDance, that the government would rather allow the social network application to be blocked in the United States than to sell it.
Meanwhile, the States are the largest market for this social network – there are about 170 million users there. The sale price of TikTok in the US could be estimated to exceed $100 billion.
On Wednesday, the US House of Representatives approved a bill to potentially ban TikTok. Lawmakers propose to give the operating company ByteDance six months to sell the social network, otherwise TikTok will most likely be banned in the United States.
