China vows to confront US in Asia

Beijing will oppose Washington’s attempts to create military blocs in the Asia-Pacific region, the Chinese embassy in Washington said in a statement.

The embassy commented for RIA Novosti on the results of the trilateral summit of the leaders of the United States, Japan and South Korea.

Chinese diplomats noted that Beijing expressed its attitude to what is happening quite clearly.

“We believe that attempts to put together various isolated groups, as well as to bring bloc confrontation and military blocs to the Asia-Pacific region will not receive support and will only meet with wariness and opposition from the countries of the region,” the message says.

Earlier it was reported that during the meeting of the heads of the United States, Japan and South Korea, issues of counteraction to Russia, China and the DPRK were discussed. Also, the leaders of the United States and Japan discussed the situation around Ukraine, declaring their readiness to support the Kiev regime “for as long as necessary.” They also drew attention to China’s “dangerous behavior” in the South China Sea, and stressed the importance of “preserving peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”

In addition, it was reported that the United States and Japan agreed to jointly develop hypersonic interceptors.
