China threatened for helping Russia amid rumors of Beijing’s peace plan

The annual security conference, which took place from 17 to 19 February, ended in Munich. An official delegation from Russia was not invited to it for the first time since 1999 because of its “violation of international law”. In 2022, Russia itself refused to participate in the event: Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow had lost interest in this event, which had lost its “inclusiveness and objectivity.”
One of the most discussed events of the event took place on its sidelines – on February 18, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with China’s chief diplomat, head of the office of the CPC Central Committee Foreign Affairs Commission, Wang Yi. The PRC Foreign Ministry called the talks “unofficial contact” at the request of the American side. The conversation took place against the backdrop of a new aggravation in relations between the two countries due to the incident with a Chinese balloon, which the Americans shot down on February 4 in the sky over the United States. Then Blinken postponed his visit to Beijing, which had been scheduled back in the fall of 2022.
