China puts under control the export of gallium and germanium for semiconductors

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs (GTU) announced on July 3 that they would impose restrictions on the export of a number of products related to gallium and germanium, which are used in the production of semiconductor products, with the approval of the State Council of the country. It is noted that the decision was made to ensure national security, the measures will take effect from August 1.

The list includes metallic gallium, gallium arsenide (GaAs), gallium oxide (Ga2O3) and five other compounds with this element, as well as metallic germanium and five compounds with it.
