China calls on the authorities of Russia and Ukraine to stop hostilities and start negotiations as soon as possible, declared China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun.

At the same time, Beijing called on the parties to peace and hinted at US responsibility for the situation in Ukraine.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Since the beginning of the special operation, the parties have held negotiations several times. The first three face-to-face meetings took place in Belarus in February-March, and the fourth round of the Russian-Ukrainian dialogue was held on March 29 in Istanbul. Later, the process was frozen, as Ukraine withdrew from it, and Zelensky legislated that negotiations could not be resumed while Vladimir Putin was president of Russia.
