The Prime Minister of the Central African Republic, Felix Molua, during an interview with RIA Novosti, conveyed the wish from the people of the country to increase the presence of Russian military instructors as an effective measure to counter local armed groups.
“Today … the security situation has improved significantly to the satisfaction of the entire population, in addition, the population asks for an increase in the presence of Russian units in order to completely prevent the actions of armed groups,” the CAR prime minister said.
Earlier it was reported that in December, France completed the withdrawal of all its troops from the territory of the republic. Thus ended the differences that arose between the two countries, during which Paris decided to break off military cooperation with the Central African Republic.
It was reported that the Central African Republic had previously notified the UN of plans to increase the number of Russian instructors by 3,000 people, which would increase the Russian military contingent in the country to 4,135 people.
