The draft law on the ratification of the agreement between the governments of Russia and China on cooperation in the field of natural gas supplies to China via the “Far East” route has been registered and sent to the Chairman of the State Duma, should from the electronic database of the lower house of parliament.

The day before, the Russian government approved an agreement with China on the supply of natural gas via the “Far Eastern” route, signed on January 31, 2023. As follows from the explanatory note to the bill, in accordance with the agreement, the parties support the successful implementation of the gas purchase and sale agreement along the “Far Eastern” route between Gazprom and “China National Petroleum Corporation” dated February 3, 2022, and also provide comprehensive assistance to authorized organizations in the design, construction and operation of the gas transmission infrastructure necessary for gas supplies.

It is assumed that the cross-border section of the gas pipeline will start at a gas metering station (GIS) in Russia in the Dalnerechensk region and end at the Hulin launch station in China (does not include GIS and the launch station). “Gazprom» is responsible for the design, construction and operation of the site in Russia, and CNPC in China.

In February 2022, Gazprom entered into a second long-term gas purchase and sale agreement with China. Thus, along the “Far East” route, gas supplies to China will amount to 10 billion cubic meters. m per year. Also, Gazprom is negotiating the supply of 50 billion cubic meters. m of gas to China through Mongolia, the design of the gas pipeline is already underway.

Earlier, Gazprom said that Russia could become the largest supplier of gas to China in the near future. In 2022, Russia delivered a record 15.5 billion cubic meters to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. m of gas.
