The air forces of Burkina Faso and Mali have deployed their combat aircraft in Niger, TASS reports with reference to the RTN television channel.
These states are reportedly ready to help Niger “repel any aggression”.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Peace and Security of the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS), Abdel Fatau Musah, said that the exact date for the start of military intervention by ECOWAS forces in the situation in Niger has been determined, but it will not be announced yet.
Earlier, the chairman of the National Council for the Salvation of the Motherland (NCSR), General Abdurahman Tchiani, agreed to direct negotiations with the Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS). At the same time, according to the Associated Press, a group of citizens in Niger’s capital city of Niamey put forward an initiative to start recruiting tens of thousands of volunteers from all over the country to the Volunteers for the Defense of Niger group.
