Bulgaria called “inevitable” talks with Russia on gas

According to Deutsche Welle, Energy Minister of Bulgaria’s technical government, Rosen Hristov, acknowledged that the country needs to return to talks with Russia on gas.
It is specified that currently Bulgaria needs about 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Sophia buys a third of this volume in Azerbaijan, the rest of the needs are covered by purchases on the world market. Previously, the country purchased 90% of blue fuel from the Russian Federation.
“In connection with the demands of industry and trade unions, negotiations with Gazprom on the resumption of gas supplies are inevitable,” Hristov said.
Recall that the supply of Russian gas to Bulgaria was stopped after the authorities of this country, against the backdrop of EU sanctions, refused to pay for it in rubles.
