Budanov said that an exchange of prisoners could take place in the near future
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, said that an exchange of prisoners with Russia could take place in the near future. He said this in comments to Ukrainian media.
“I am sure that the exchange will take place in the near future,” Budanov said.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Russia showed footage of Ukrainian prisoners of war being loaded onto an Il-76, which was supposed to deliver them to Belgorod for subsequent exchange. The Ministry of Defense reported that the plane crashed as a result of an attack on it by the Ukrainian air defense system. There were 65 prisoners on board.
The Ukrainian Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War previously confirmed that 65 prisoners from a list previously published in Russia were indeed scheduled to be returned to Ukraine as part of the January 24 exchange.
