British Foreign Secretary and candidate for Prime Minister Liz Truss, if elected, intends to approve the issuance of licenses for drilling and production of large volumes of gas and oil in the North Sea in order to ensure the energy security of the Kingdom, reports The Times.
In addition, she intends to allow the development of new deposits, while emphasizing that the relevant decisions can be taken almost immediately after her possible accession to the post of prime minister.
It is also noted that British Energy Minister Kwasi Kwarteng and senior members of the Conservative Party are currently doing everything possible to increase domestic energy production and increase gas supplies from Norway.
According to The Times, Truss can issue at least 130 drilling and exploration licenses. However, according to experts, these measures are unlikely to lead to a rapid decline in energy prices in the UK.
