Britain may need up to £130bn to fight energy crisis

The new British Prime Minister Liz Truss intends to freeze the prices of electricity and gas for households at the current level. This was reported on September 6 by Bloomberg. According to him, Truss wants to fix the marginal spending for a typical household on electricity and gas at £1,971 ($2,300) a year.
The total cost of such a program, notes Bloomberg, will be about 130 billion pounds over 18 months. The government plans to guarantee loans in the amount that market operators can take to cover their costs in order to supply electricity at a reduced price. It is planned that such measures will almost halve the expected average bill of a British family for energy. Reuters previously reported, citing British energy regulator Ofgem, that prices would rise by 80% in October, bringing spending for the year from October to £3,548 (over $4,100). At these prices, Bloomberg explains, low-income families are forced to choose between heating and meeting other basic needs.
