Britain intends to transfer AMRAAM missiles to Ukraine for NASAMS air defense systems

The UK is going to supply Ukraine with AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range missiles, which will be intended for use by US NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs). It is reported that the ammunition will be able to shoot down cruise missiles. It is reported by Sky News, referring to the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom.
“The UK government will supply Ukraine with AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range missiles for US NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems,” the text of the publication says.
It is noted that by the end of 2022, the United States plans to transfer two NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine, and about eight pieces will be transferred in total.
In addition, it is noted that the UK has already delivered 20 M109 howitzers.
It is worth noting that on Wednesday, October 12, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov announced that Ukraine received from Germany of the IRIS-T air defense system, and also announced the imminent delivery of American NASAMS air defense systems.
