Britain does not plan to supply fighter jets to Ukraine

Britain does not plan to supply its fighters to Ukraine, reported Reuters referring to the representative of the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

During a meeting in London with Sunak today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expected to create a “coalition” for the supply of fighter jets and announced “very important decisions” in the near future.

Today, Sunak’s office is also announced the opening of a new flight school to train Ukrainian pilots to fly aircraft of various types. Training will begin this summer. Also, the UK intends to transfer hundreds of anti-aircraft missile systems and attack drones with a range of more than 200 km to Ukraine in the coming months, the press service of the British Prime Minister added.

London announced a new package of military aid to Kyiv amid the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier today, he met with Sunak to discuss the situation in Ukraine.

The Kremlin, commenting on the supply of aircraft before, said that in this way Western countries “are engaged in the disposal of old unnecessary equipment.” Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov stressed that the supply of aircraft to Ukraine will not affect the course of the special operation, and all military equipment will be destroyed.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
