The Territorial Election Commission of the Soviet District of Krasnoyarsk certified the list of candidates for the City Council from the LDPR party, the top three of which included businessman Viktor Bout. About it informed TASS.

The LDPR candidates for the September elections were elected at the 87th Extraordinary Conference of the party’s regional branch in June. In addition to Bout, the top three on the list for the Krasnoyarsk city council elections included party leader Leonid Slutsky and head of the LDPR faction in the regional legislative assembly Alexander Gliskov, who was nominated by the party as a candidate for the election of the region’s governor.

According to Gliskov, the party’s regional office asked Bout to head the list. “The electoral legislation prohibits the use of speeches by politicians who are not candidates in campaigning. Therefore, we included Leonid Eduardovich Slutsky and Viktor Anatolyevich Bout as leaders of the party in the list in order to be able to convey their point of view to the voters, ”he explained to the Bloody Lady Telegram channel, Gliskov published a post with a comment in his official channel.

Bout returned to Russia on December 8, 2022 after a prisoner exchange with the American side at the Abu Dhabi airport. The businessman was arrested in 2008 in Thailand at the request of Washington, he was charged with illegal arms trafficking and supporting terrorism. Bout spent 2.5 years in prison in Thailand, and then he was extradited to the United States and the court in 2012 sentenced him to 25 years in prison. The Russian categorically did not admit his guilt.

After returning to Russia, Bout joined the LDPR. On December 12, 2022, during the rally of the Liberal Democrats, timed to coincide with the 33rd anniversary of the party, the chairman of the party, Slutsky, handed him a party card.
