Bout can go to the elections of deputies of the legislature of the Ulyanovsk region

Entrepreneur Viktor Bout, who was released on an exchange from an American prison in December 2022, became one of the possible candidates for the Ulyanovsk Region Legislative Assembly from the Liberal Democratic Party, his name is on the list proposed for approval at the regional party conference, transmits TASS.

The head of the LDPR faction in the legislature of the region, Dmitry Grachev, said that Bout is number one in the territorial group No. 10, which includes the territories of the Zavolzhsky single-mandate constituency No. 10 and the Zavolzhsky single-mandate constituency No. 11.

Bout joined the Liberal Democratic Party on December 12, 2022, during a rally of liberal democrats dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the party. The party card was handed to him by its chairman, Leonid Slutsky. At the end of April, Vedomosti wrote that the businessman could participate in the elections to the Yaroslavl Regional Duma. On April 24, Bout visited Yaroslavl, where, in particular, he held talks with Vice Governor for Domestic Policy Andrei Kolyadin and the leadership of the regional branch of the Liberal Democratic Party.

The Ulyanovsk region in United Russia was previously classified as a “red region” – elections there are considered difficult for the party. In total, according to the interlocutors of Vedomosti, there are 13 regions with complex campaigns. Elections of deputies to the legislative assembly of the Ulyanovsk region of the seventh convocation will be held on a single voting day, September 10.

Bout returned to Russia on December 8 last year after an exchange of prisoners with the American side at the Abu Dhabi airport.
