Borrell called the tragedy in the Middle East a moral failure

What is happening in the Middle East is the result of a collective political and moral failure, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said in an address to EU ambassadors at the opening of the conference in Brussels.
“The tragedy unfolding in the Middle East is the result of a collective political and moral failure for which Israelis and Palestinians are paying the price. This cost will continue to increase… This failure is the result of a lack of will to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli problem,” he said (quote according to RIA Novosti).
The head of EU diplomacy also said that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is already affecting the EU’s support for Ukraine.
Borrell previously said that the European Union won’t stop provide financial assistance to Palestine. He also spoke about the need to increase humanitarian assistance to all those affected by the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and noted that the Council of the European Union called for the opening of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of the population to Egypt.
