The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that he does not consider the comparison of Europe with a “garden”, and the world around it – with a “jungle” racism.
According to him, in his statement he meant by “jungle” the growth of power politics in the world.
“Speaking of the “jungle”, I meant the growth of a world of disorder and lawlessness. My words do not have any racist, geographical or cultural overtones. At the same time, at the moment, the “jungle” is everywhere, and in Ukraine,” Borrell said.
Among other things, he apologized to those people who interpreted his metaphor as “colonial Eurocentrism.”
Recall that earlier in his speech, Borrell noted that “privileged” Europe is a “garden”, and the world around it is a “jungle”.
