The Litres electronic and audio book service is launching the Litres.uz website and a mobile application for iOS and Android operating systems for residents of Uzbekistan, a company representative told Kommersant. It is specified that the catalog will include 1.5 thousand titles in the Uzbek language, as well as books in Russian and other languages. By the end of 2023, the company expects to increase the range of the service to 4 thousand electronic and audio books.
Now LitRes Group has contracts with 13 national publishing houses, including Asaxiy books, Sharq, Adabiyot and Yangi asr avlodi.
“According to our forecasts, its capacity (of the digital book market is “b”) in the country in the future can reach $4-5 million per year. This is facilitated, first of all, by a large number of publishing houses represented on the market of traditional paper books, about 40,” says Sergey Anuryev, General Director of the LitRes Group of Companies.
In December last year, the service entered the Azerbaijani market, Forbes reported. A few years ago, LitRes also entered the markets of Estonia and Poland. The online library does not currently operate in these countries.
