Izvestia notes that at the start of sales, the high price was due to a shortage of set-top boxes; due to the lack of semiconductors, it was difficult to find consoles at recommended prices. Now, Citilink and Marvel Distribution noted, the cost has fallen due to reduced demand.
According to Ozon, Xbox prices are now down 22% on average compared to a year ago, and PlayStation prices are down 20%. The press service of the company explained that the trend is associated with sufficient saturation of the market. At the same time, other factors must be taken into account, including the season, the availability of goods from distributors and manufacturers, and the ruble exchange rate. Their change may lead to a slight increase in prices until the fall, Ozon admitted.
The press service of M.Video-Eldorado stated that in the first six months of 2023, unit sales of set-top boxes more than doubled compared to the same period in 2022. Ozon also noted an increase in demand by 2, 8 times in the first half of the year.
In early March, against the backdrop of the start of a special operation in Ukraine, Microsoft and Sony suspended deliveries to Russia.
