La Roquebrou, “world capital” of boogie-woogie
Its organizers like to say that during the few days when their festival takes place, the town of La Roquebrou, in Cantal, becomes the “capital of the world” boogie-woogie, a piano style derived from the blues, in which the notion of speed of execution is founding. There are therefore many pianists at the La Roquebrou International Boogie-woogie Festival which, for its 22e edition, will receive in particular the American Caroline Dahl, the Swiss Ladyva, the Germans Axel Zwingenberger and Stefan Ulbricht, or various representatives of the genre in France, Marie de Boysson, Jean-Paul Amouroux, Gilles Blandin, Jean-Pierre Bertrand and his son Arthur. Also announced are the great lady of jazz, organist Rhoda Scott, in trio, singer Nicolle Rochelle and the Boogie Big Band led by drummer Philippe Crestée.
