Bolivia has notified BRICS of its desire to join the association

Bolivia is ready to join the BRICS, the country has already notified the association about this. Bolivian Foreign Minister Rogelio Maita announced this on Twitter.
“June 12, 2023 President [Боливии Луис] Arce officially announced Bolivia’s readiness to join the group,” he wrote.
Maita added that the country is committed to sustainable development and strengthening cooperation with BRICS members. He noted that Bolivia has made “many efforts” with the rest of the member countries of the association.
According to him, Bolivia will take part in the 15th BRICS summit, which will be held from 22 to 24 August in Johannesburg (South Africa). The Foreign Minister added that the President of Bolivia would take part in the event.
July 19 at the press office of the South African President reported about the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin not to go to the BRICS summit in South Africa. Moscow will be represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Later, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov clarifiedthat Putin will take part in the events via video link.
BRICS was founded in June 2006 as part of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Initially, the association included Brazil, Russia, India and China. In 2020, South Africa joined it. Egypt, Algeria, Iran, and Argentina also applied to join the BRICS.
