NATO countries are studying the consequences of Ukraine’s defeat in the conflict with Russia, writes Bloomberg.
Politicians are beginning to examine the possible consequences as $110 billion in military aid to Kyiv is hampered by political differences in the United States and the European Union.
In addition to the potentially catastrophic consequences for Ukraine, some of its European allies have now begun to consider the consequences of NATO’s failure in the largest military conflict on the continent since World War II, Bloomberg writes.
Possible risks and the likelihood of conflicts on the eastern borders due to a strengthened and “embroidered” Russia are assessed. Such an outcome of the conflict, according to agency experts, will make Washington’s allies doubt its promises to provide them with military assistance if necessary.
One of the possible consequences of the defeat of Kyiv, European officials who shared forecasts with the agency, call the transition of the conflict to the “stage of guerrilla warfare.” This, as analysts note, will mean the emergence of a source of instability on the eastern border of the EU.
The EU fears that Russia’s victory will provoke an influx of Ukrainian refugees, which will significantly increase the burden on the social services of European countries.
