Hungary and Gazprom have agreed to defer payment in the amount of €1.9 billion, reports Bloomberg with reference to sources. The agency writes that in the winter period of 2022-2023, Budapest, without taking into account the delay, is likely to pay € 4 billion for Russian gas. According to two anonymous Bloomberg sources, in the first year Hungary will pay 20% of the amount, in the next two years 40%.
Yesterday, October 3, the Hungarian portal Index reported that the energy company MVM, in order to optimize financing for the coming winter period, concluded an agreement with Gazprom to defer payment for gas “due to extreme price fluctuations.” The deferred deal is valid for three years.
On August 31, Hungary and Gazprom signed an agreement on the supply of an additional 5.8 million cubic meters. m of gas per day. The agreement is valid from 1 September.
