Blinken announced a new $125 million aid package for Ukraine

The United States will allocate a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $125 million, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said.

“The United States is announcing the transfer of a new package of weapons and equipment to support the people of Ukraine,” Blinken said in a statement issued by the State Department (quote according to RIA Novosti). The Ukrainian army will receive weapons from the Pentagon’s arsenals.

November 2, Reuters citing sources reportedthat the United States is going to announce a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $425 million. According to the agency, it will include laser-guided missiles to combat drones worth $300 million and ammunition for NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, 105 projectiles and 155 mm.

It was clarified that support would be provided within the framework of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI, purchase from industry) and Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA, withdrawal from Pentagon stockpiles) programs.

In early September, the administration of US President Joe Biden allocated another package of military assistance to Ukraine for $600 million. Then it included missiles and equipment to support the operation of air defense systems, shells for the HIMARS MLRS, 105-mm artillery shells, equipment for electronic warfare, mine clearance equipment, etc.

Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv and pointed to the growing direct and indirect involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine. Moscow pointed to an attempt by the West to prolong the conflict by supplying arms to Ukraine.
