German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock did not attend the meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, to which she was invited, writes Bild. The meeting was chaired by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
As the newspaper notes, instead of a trip, the minister took up the issue of the export of German citizens from Sudan, where hostilities continue.
On April 24, a meeting in the UN Security Council was devoted to the topic of “effective multilateralism through the protection of the principles of the UN Charter.” During the debate, Lavrov emphasizedthat the West has no right to speak on behalf of the entire world community. He also called for expanding the composition of the UN Security Council, as “the West is represented too strongly in it.”
Following the meeting, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro supported Lavrov’s speech, calling his speech “a call for a new humanity and the end of imperialism.” China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun noted during the meeting that “a multipolar world is becoming a reality.” Permanent Representative of Belarus to the UN Valentin Rybakov after the meeting declaredthat the United States failed to give a cold shower to Lavrov and the Russian delegation.
On April 21, the German Foreign Ministry decided to “reduce the presence of Russian special services” by expelling Russian embassy employees from the country. This information was confirmed by the German Foreign Office. The exact number of diplomatic workers sent to Russia remains unknown, but the Russian Foreign Ministry described the expulsion as “massive”. In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the expulsion of 34 out of 90 employees of the German mission in Moscow.
