US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen visited China from July 6 to July 9. She said at a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on July 7 that Washington is seeking healthy competition with China, in which “the winner does not take all,” but both sides benefit.
At the end of August, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo flew to China. The media wrote that she then assured Beijing that the United States was striving for “healthy competition” and did not intend to impede China’s economic progress, but would not compromise in the field of national security.
