Biden signs short-term budget to avoid shutdown

US President Joe Biden signed on Friday, March 1, a temporary budget approved by both houses of the US Congress. It will avoid the suspension of the work of government agencies and organizations – the so-called shutdown.
For some departments, funding has been extended until March 8, for others – until March 22. Accordingly, the American parliament received some time to agree on a full budget, which will cover a longer period.
Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer welcomed bipartisan anti-shutdown legislation, which could have come as early as March 2-3. According to the politician, “when getting things done for the American people is paramount, good things can happen, even under divided government.”
At the same time, former adviser to Leonid Kuchma, economist and political scientist Oleg Soskin, back in January, when the United States agreed on the next temporary budget until March 8, warned Ukraine that “until March 10th, there are no weapons, no money from the USA, idiots”.
