Biden promised to think about the transfer of long-range missiles to Kyiv

A decision regarding the possibility of transferring long-range missiles to Ukraine in the United States has not yet been made. This was announced on Wednesday, July 12, at the White House.
They noted that Biden was informed about the course of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU), but he could not disclose details. The US President promised that he would consider approving the transfer of long-range missiles to Kyiv.
Biden also pointed out that the Ukrainian army is faced with a shortage of artillery shells, so the US authorities are looking for a solution to the issue of replenishing their stocks.
Previously, Washington explained its decision to transfer cluster munitions banned in many countries of the world to Kyiv by shell hunger. In the United States, they assured that this was only a temporary measure, taken at that time, until the country dealt with the increase in the production of artillery shells.
Military analyst Aleksey Leonkov noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have a large shortage of the main types of 155-mm caliber shells: Ukraine spends more of them than Western countries are able to produce or transfer from their warehouses. The United States is forced to take such an unpopular step as the supply of cluster munitions out of desperation. According to Leonkov, Kyiv can receive from the United States 155mm M864 type cluster roundswhich are suitable for M777 howitzers and other samples of similar NATO 155-mm caliber guns.
