US President Joe Biden called the conflict in Ukraine “a test for the ages” and promised Kyiv support. He made this statement during his second address to Congress. Broadcast performance was conducted on the White House website.
“[Этот конфликт] became a test for the ages. A test for America, a test for the world,” he said.
According to Biden, the United States managed to create a global coalition to resist “aggression” and they managed to “survive”.
The President also addressed Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova, who was present at the speech as a guest of honor, and promised that Washington would support Kyiv “for as long as it takes.”
Since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the United States has repeatedly sent military assistance to Kyiv. About the last package was announced February 3rd. It included, among other things, air defense systems, GLSDB missiles capable of flying about 150 km, infantry fighting vehicles, ammunition for Javelin anti-tank missile systems, etc. The total amount of military assistance provided to Ukraine by the United States amounted to over $29.3 billion.
The Russian authorities have repeatedly criticized the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv. In particular, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, warned that pumping Ukraine with weapons brings NATO closer to the dangerous line of a direct military clash with Russia.
