Biden called on Congress to approve a ban on the sale of assault weapons

The White House released a statement announcing President Joe Biden’s call to members of both houses of Congress to approve a bill to ban the sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. The release quoted Biden as saying that “the majority of the American people agree” with the introduction of such bans.
Recalling that the said bill had already been submitted to Congress by his party comrades, Biden did not fail to indicate in the quoted statement that they are together trying to correct the egregious mistake of their Republican opponents, who had previously lifted important bans.
“Over the 10 years of the law on the ban on assault weapons, the number of cases of mass shooting has decreased. After the Republicans repealed this law and allowed the sale of weapons in 2004, the number of cases of mass shooting has tripled,” Biden said and added a request to quickly vote for the document of his colleagues and send it to the White House for signature without delay.
While the number of massacres in the US shows an upward trend, the promotion of the new-old law is clearly aimed not so much at solving the problem, but at gaining political points in a tournament with political opponents. At the same time, the use of statistics by Biden and his assistants, showing how everything got better under him, has more than once become the subject of jokes and reproaches for obvious distortion. Although earlier these fuses had more to do with economic policy – gasoline prices, employment, investment volumes, etc.
