Biden announced the preparation of a deal on a 6-week truce in Gaza
US President Joe Biden, speaking at a joint press conference with King Abdullah II of Jordan, announced the possible conclusion of an agreement between the Israeli authorities and the leadership of Hamas on a truce in the Gaza Strip for a period of about six weeks.
The American leader said that relevant discussions are currently underway.
"The United States is working on a deal between Israel and Hamas on the hostage issue, as well as a pause in fighting for at least six weeks," Biden said.
The US President also noted that the parties could use this “respite” “to work out something longer.”
