“According to the intelligence community’s current assessment, these three were most likely balloons associated with private companies, entertainment or research institutions studying the weather or doing other scientific research,” he said.
Biden stressed that so far it has not been possible to find out what exactly these objects were. According to him, the order to shoot down the balloons was given due to a possible threat to air traffic and fears that the balloons were spying on important objects.
According to the US leader, he plans to discuss what happened with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the future, but did not specify when exactly their meeting would take place. Biden also noted that he will continue to engage with China, although he does not plan to apologize.
