Berlingske: delivery of F-16 fighters from Denmark to Ukraine delayed by six months

The Danish newspaper Berlingske reported, citing a representative of the country’s Ministry of Defense, that the delivery of the first six F-16 aircraft to Ukraine was delayed by up to six months.

Let us recall that in the summer, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen first announced plans to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and expressed the hope that this would happen at the beginning of 2024. However, the defense ministry has now said that the transfer is expected “to take place in the second quarter of 2024.”

As it turned out, some conditions for the transfer of combat aircraft have not yet been met, including the training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics in Denmark and the establishment of a supply chain for ammunition and spare parts. In addition, it is necessary to prepare airfields where the F-16s will be based.
