The German government, in a diplomatic note, refused to negotiate with Poland on compensation for damage caused during World War II.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland noted that the German authorities continue to believe that the issue of reparations and compensation for the military losses of the Polish side remains closed. Warsaw promised to continue efforts to settle debts resulting from German aggression and occupation during World War II.
Earlier it was reported that the Polish government appealed to UNESCO and the Council of Europe, demanding from Germany 6.2 trillion zlotys (about 1.3 trillion dollars) as reparations for damage from aggression. In Germany, they point out that they have already paid quite a large compensation, and also remind that Poland refused reparations in 1953.
