The situation with the demand for cash in Russia has stabilized after a sharp increase over the weekend against the backdrop of a military mutiny. First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov spoke about this during a meeting in the government.
On Saturday, in 15 regions of the country, an increase in demand for cash currency by an average of 30% was recorded. More active growth – by 70-80% – was observed in the Voronezh, Rostov, Lipetsk regions and large cities, Belousov said.
“Already on Sunday, demand began to decline, now the situation has completely stabilized,” clarified Deputy Prime Minister, adding that the violation of the regular situation was avoided thanks to the actions of the Central Bank and an increase in the volume of “reinforcement” of banks (quote from the Prime agency).
On Saturday, also against the backdrop of a military mutiny by the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, rates in bank exchange offices increased. The value of the dollar exceeded 100 rubles. in some exchange offices, for example, in the branch of Fora Bank, during the day one could buy American currency for 101 rubles, euro – for 115 rubles. In the branch of Sberbank, the dollar was given almost 92 rubles, the euro cost more than 100 rubles. But on Sunday, banks began to reduce the exchange rates, which had been raised the day before.
