Belousov: reports about the introduction of duties on coal exports are fake

Russia will not introduce an unconditional duty on coal exports, Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov said. He clarified that the government does not plan to impose duties on goods whose price does not exceed $150 per ton, while Russian coal now costs $130-140 per ton.

“Rumors are spreading that we will introduce an export duty. The amount there is about 30 billion rubles, very small (money.— “b”), but we most likely won’t even take them,” said Mr. Belousov during the “Coal Industry – New Realities” forum.

Earlier, Kommersant found out that the authorities are looking for sources to close the budget deficit consider the option of introducing an export duty on coal. According to Kommersant’s sources, the mechanism for imposing duties on the industry involves a cut-off price and a percentage of withdrawal if it is exceeded.
