Iran’s VPN use up 3082% since protests began

Swiss company Proton also reported a 5,000% increase in demand for its VPN service.
According to Cloudflare and NetBlocks, the first Internet outages were recorded on September 19 – a few days after start of protests, which were caused by the death of a girl detained by the morality police for wearing the hijab incorrectly. Since then, interruptions in the operation of telecommunications networks have continued.
According to many experts and activists, they are jammed by the authorities, which is also indicated by the fact that such interruptions begin every day at about 4 p.m. and continue until night. On September 21, the Iranian authorities blocked WhatsApp and Instagram, while Twitter, Facebook and YouTube had already been blocked in the country.
