Belarus will seize the property of unfriendly countries as a response

Belarus adopted a law according to which the property of foreign states that commit unfriendly actions against the republic can be forcibly seized as a retaliatory measure. The document was published on the National Legal Internet Portal.
The document notes that the decision on the need to take a response – the withdrawal of objects of property rights – is taken by the Council of Ministers of the republic. After that, the State Property Committee applies to the Economic Court of Minsk with a statement on the seizure of objects.
The objects of property rights include, among other things, money and securities, property rights located on the territory of the republic and owned by the subjects of seizure – foreign states that commit unfriendly actions, persons from such states, as well as affiliated persons.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on the eve signed amendments to the law providing for the loss of citizenship for extremism. The amendments also provide for a clarification of the circle of persons who have acquired citizenship of the republic by birth, the obligation to take an oath by persons acquiring citizenship.
