Belarus introduced visa-free entry for Polish citizens across the entire border with the EU

The State Border Committee (SBC) of Belarus allowed visa-free entry to Polish citizens through all checkpoints on the border with the European Union. About it informed department press office.

The rule will take effect from March 2 to December 31 inclusive. The border committee recalled that earlier Polish citizens could enter the republic without a visa only on the Belarusian-Polish section of the border. Now they can also enter through Lithuania and Latvia, which are part of the EU.

At the end of June 2022, the Belarusian border committee introduced for citizens of Poland a visa-free regime, which allowed entry only through the Belarusian-Polish section of the border. Then such a decision was made by the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko to “maintain good neighborly relations.” In particular, the introduction of a visa-free regime concerned citizens of Latvia and Lithuania.

On February 9, the Polish authorities announced the closure of the border crossing with Belarus in Bobrovniki. The country’s interior minister, Mariusz Kaminski, then said that such a decision was made on the basis of “important interests of state security.” In response to this, the government of Belarus restricted entry for Polish tractors and trucks.

February 24 CPC of Belarus informedthat due to the closure of the border checkpoint in Bobrovniki, the queue of trucks to enter the EU countries from the republic increased 10 times. At the same time, the committee reported an increase in the accumulation of trucks in the Lithuanian direction.
