The Government of Belarus is introducing a ban on the import of certain goods across the Belarusian-Lithuanian section of the state border. The corresponding resolution signed by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Roman Golovchenko, was published on Thursday, March 14.
The Belarusian Cabinet emphasized that this is a response to the decision taken by Lithuania to stop the movement of goods, transport and people through two border checkpoints.
The embargo will affect drinking water, beer, wines, grape must, vermouths, other fermented drinks, ethyl alcohol, vinegar, pneumatic rubber tires and tires, clothing and other used products, as well as used vehicle parts and accessories.
Earlier, Polish media reported a curious incident on the border with Belarus: local border guards discovered a balloon, to which were attached 20 boxes of cigarettes. The Polish border service said that someone was smuggling cigarettes in this way.
However, Minsk is serious about protecting its borders. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense noted that the countries of the Western military-political NATO bloc are building up their military potential, including on the borders of Belarus, — “all the signs of preparation for war” are obvious.
