Belarus demanded an apology from Canada for the SS man in parliament

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus demanded an official apology from the Canadian authorities in light of the incident involving the invitation of a veteran of the SS Galicia division to the Canadian parliament. This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that during the Nazi occupation, every third resident of Belarus died, and therefore the country was deeply outraged and insulted by the invitation of a Nazi to the House of Commons of the Canadian Parliament.
The diplomats also expressed the belief that such a cynical attitude towards the memory of thousands of innocent victims of Nazism is not a random incident, as the organizers of this event are trying to present.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the incident the quintessence of the long-term policy of Canada and some Western countries related to the concealment and acquittal of Nazi criminals.
“We are waiting for an official apology from the Canadian leadership,” the Foreign Ministry statement reads.
In addition to this, Belarus also demands that the incident receive a legal and moral assessment from international and public organizations, associations and foundations involved in the memory of the victims of the Second World War.
