How informs The Washington Post, ousted Niger President Mohamed Bazum issued an appeal to the world community in which he asked for help to restore constitutional order in the country.
According to the politician, Niger is under attack by a military junta that is trying to overthrow democracy in the country. And he himself is one of hundreds of citizens who have been illegally imprisoned.
“This coup… has no justification. It will have devastating consequences for our country, our region and the entire world,” Bazum said, adding that the legitimate authorities in Niger appreciate the “strong and unequivocal condemnation of this cynical” attack.
